This dementia-care curriculum is currently being used in Wood County and at UW-Green Bay and aims spread more broadly, bringing needed resources to communities in northern Wisconsin.

The freshman class was selected from a record number of applicants: 35,615. Of the new freshmen this year, 3,746 are Wisconsin residents.

Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (WVDL)  is one of only 19 labs in the United States capable of testing for CWD and other prion diseases. The lab works closely with both the DNR and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to help manage the disease, conduct surveillance, and ensure human health.

Graduating more UW–Madison nurses through this program will more rapidly address the problem and positively impact the health care needs of Wisconsin residents.

“We wanted to develop a product that would help the people of Wisconsin,” says Rebecca Willett, an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at UW–Madison.
